Had a good old fashioned target day with momma over a long weekend and snatched up lots of summer wearables.
If you haven’t seen ‘the shops’ lines out at the red dot boutique you need to. The Privet Home line has a wealth of mixable matchables for your summer tabletop!
And now, after mike’s traditional breakfast we’re jetting off to me-he-co for an anniversary celebration! Adios muchachos!
(for a perfect over easy egg every time melt a teaspoon of butter in a small pan, crack the egg into the pan wait for the bottom to turn white, then fill one half an egg shell with water and pour around the egg. Cover and steam for around 1 minute, until the outer yolk is cloudy white. No need for flipping! Salt and peppa and enjoy with a nice crusty piece of toast. )
This weekend Mike took me to the doggie adoption fair in Hancock park to torture me make me happy. We got to pet all kinds of doggies, but the Best in Show are showcased here.
Pao Pao the Pekingese has no eyes and has been blind since his birth in Taiwan. He came to America for a fighting chance at life. He loves to be pet. When he hears “Pao Pao!” he whips his head about trying to locate the source of the sound. A live Jim Henson puppet!
Nick is a wrinkly English bulldog that doesn’t have the energy to walk, but he sure can scoot! I feel ya, Nick.
Sunny and Rosie had been “abused” severely overfed by their mother. Will work for treats. At twice the size of a normal pug, they tie for my Best in Show.
Hmmm…Starting to think my top three selections may have been influenced by a certain pair of bookshelf guardians…
Ya, ya, April showers bring blah blah–I’m ready for some sun. So in the mean times I put together this little shhhpread of umbrellas and their paaatners, to help me and my fellow happy junkies see a little rainbow during the rainclouds. What rain style are you?1. Fornasetti Umbrella Stand, 2. Leopard Umbrella, 3. Boot Umbrella Stand, 4. Magritte Umbrella, 5. Turquoise Grid Umbrella Stand, 6. Palm Leaf Umbrella 7. Hand Painted Chevron Umbrella Stand 8. Pink Pagoda Umbrella.
I love all of these ‘brellies but I think the cheese stands alone when it comes to this beauty to help keep my mascara in its rightful place. Just call me ‘Auntie Mime’!
Inspired by this room, Mikey (My Hubby) and I finally made the decision to commit to a tortoise shell coffee table and toss those fine ikea Lack tables, that despite their $5 price tag and particle board interiors, have served us well. After finding nothing under $5000 that fit the bill, I’ve decided to exercise my painting skills and make one myself. :0 Now to decide on a color palate, design and shape…

After Mikey’s comment last week that went something (exactly) like this: “It’s really a shame that we don’t ever have any cookies,” I decided to christen out minty mixer with a home baked batch of these little beauties.
They turned out pretty delicious, except I had reason not to indulge due to the fact I had made myself sick from cookie dough/ salmonella. Enjoy!
Pining after this pricey paper! I looked into having some curtains made in the same pattern for our breakfast nook, thinking that we’d only need 4-5 yards @ $170/ yrd. Silly me always the underestimater…we’d need 14 YARDS! For those of you good at math stuffs, after fabrication, that’s a 3 piece sectionals worth! Or a year’s supply of chocolates!
The most delicious pie you will ever lay a tooth over:
4 Eggs, separated
1/2 Teaspoon cream of tartar
Pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups sugar
Grated peel of 2 lemons
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 cup (1/2 pint) whipping cream
BBeat egg whites until frothy, sprinkle in cream of tartar and salt, and beat until stiff. Beat in 1 cup of the sugar, 2 teaspoons at a time. The mixture should be glossy and stand in stiff peaks when all the sugar has been added.
With the back of a tablespoon, spread meringue in a well-greased 9-inch pie pan, pushing it high on the sides so that it resembles a pie shell. Bake in a 300 degree oven for 40 minutes. Cool on a rack.
Beat egg yolks and remaining 1/2 cup sugar in the top of a double broiler until light. Stir in lemon peel and juice and cook over hot water until thick, stirring constantly. Chill. Whip cream and fold into chilled lemon mixture. Fill meringue shell with lemon filling. Chill for several hours. Serves 6 to 8. Or 1…
